I am very grateful for the opportunity to return to TAGS in Edinburgh. I want to share what this trip means to me.
The story goes back to my first trip to TAGS in 2024, which started in London. During the trip, I had a series of unfortunate events and almost gave up on going to Edinburgh. One was that, a few days earlier, my wallet was stolen from my backpack on my favorite Portobello Street on my birthday 🤯
We realized we couldn't board the plane to Edinburgh because I lost my IDs. Frustrated with dealing with all the damage control, I thought, forget it, I want to go home, but then I couldn't go anywhere by plane 😭
So we took the train to Edinburgh instead, and when we arrived, after 4 hours, it was a different world. I fell in love with this magical medieval city. We had only one day to explore, but we did a couple of walking tours; one was the Harry Potter tour.
I learned that Edinburgh is a city for writers. Many famous writers have lived there, and it inspired me. After this trip, I finally got the courage to enroll in a writing course. As a result, my two newest projects in 2025, The Pigeons of Los Angeles (narrative version) and The Alice Journal, were born.
My unfortunate events actually turned into a blessing. And I am pretty sure I can go back to TAGS because of The Alice Journal.
If you have had unfortunate events, don't lose heart. They can be blessings.
