My First Workshop and Alice Synchronicity

TCAF (Toronto Comic Arts Festival) 2026 (6/6 & 6/7) was tremendous! 400+ artists in Toronto Metropolitan University’s Mattamy Athletic Center. My table was at the basketball court, which was a large-scale comic fair in itself. But there was still a larger ice hockey rink area. I also heard there were over 30.000 attendees this year.

TCAF was another learning experience for me. And some of you know I was apprehensive about my first workshop, even though I was grateful for the opportunity. Thankfully, it went well. This experience became one of my proudest moments.

I wanted to share what happened just before my workshop. Alice synchronicity happened again!

On the day of the workshop, the time had come for me to leave the table and go up to the meeting room. I was very nervous. At that moment, a young woman came to my table wearing a t-shirt that said: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"! I was shocked.

Nothing reminded me of Alice during the festival except that moment. She said the t-shirt was from the opera she sang in. I got so excited that I asked her if I could take a photo of her, but she declined. I think I scared her away.

Even though I felt bad for scaring her away, seeing this sign, I knew that the workshop would be okay. So my heart was filled with hope as I headed toward the meeting room.

When I was promoting my pigeon books, I experienced pigeon synchronicities. Pigeons appeared dramatically right before comic festivals when I was feeling nervous. I knew they were synchronicities because I was encouraged by them. But since pigeons can appear at any moment, I think I downplayed them a little.

But with Alice, the chances of encountering her are much lower. So when she shows up at my pivotal moments, they are undeniable. In that sense, Alice synchronicities are easier to recognize.

After experiencing synchronicities more often recently, I know what it does. It changes our perception. When synchronicity happens, it grabs our attention. We cannot deny that we are part of a bigger picture that we aren't aware of. Then our uncertainty becomes certainty that everything is okay.

Looking back on my life, synchronicities occurred when I was following my passion. Creating and using The Alice Journal put me in touch with who I am and clarified my passions. I think that is why I am experiencing Alice's synchronicities now.

If you are using The Alice Journal, please let me know when synchronicities happen for you.
